| | PEOPLE WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES: AGE 18 AND OLDER Study Name: Paleolithic-Type Diets and Metabolic Control in Type 2 Diabetes Principal Investigator: Umesh Masharani, M.D. Who can sign up for this study? Type 2 diabetics, age 18 and older What is this study about? Researchers are testing whether eating a whole food diet, which we call a “Paleolithic-type” diet, will improve blood sugar control, cholesterol levels and blood pressure as compared to the standard diet currently recommended by the American Diabetes Association. What will happen in this study? Volunteers who qualify and are enrolled will receive 3 weeks of prepared meals that are either an ADA recommended diet or a Paleolithic-type diet. The Paleolithic diet contains food items consisting mainly of fruits, vegetables, lean meats and nuts. The How long will this study last? Each volunteer will be followed for approximately 2 months total. Reimbursement: You will not be charged for any of the study treatments and you will receive reimbursement for your time and effort.
