Type 2 diabetics, age 18 and older

What is this study about?
Researchers are testing whether eating a whole food diet, which we call a “Paleolithic-type” diet, will improve blood sugar control, cholesterol levels and blood pressure as compared to the standard diet currently recommended by the American Diabetes Association.

What will happen in this study?
Volunteers who qualify and are enrolled will receive 3 weeks of prepared meals that are either an ADA recommended diet or a Paleolithic-type diet.  The Paleolithic diet contains food items consisting mainly of fruits, vegetables, lean meats and nuts.  The ADA diet includes fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, low fat dairy products and legumes.  Volunteers will have a number of tests performed to analyze things like insulin resistance and cholesterol before and after the diet.

How long will this study last?
Each volunteer will be followed for approximately 2 months total.

Reimbursement:
You will not be charged for any of the study treatments and you will receive reimbursement for your time and effort.
