| | MEXICAN-AMERICAN OR AFRICAN-AMERICAN FAMILIES WTIH TYPE 1 DIABETES Principal Investigator:Stephen E. Gitelman, M.D., Director of the Pediatric Diabetes Program at U.C.S.F. Who can sign up for this study? Mexican-American families or African-American families in which there is one family member with type 1 diabetes. For these families we would like to enroll the family with type 1 diabetes and the both biological parents.What is this study about? The Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium is trying to understand the genetic causes of Type 1 Diabetes. What will happen in this study? Eligible family members will be asked to have a small amount of blood drawn and to answer a few questions about their health. Reimbursement: There will be a $25.00 reimbursement for each eligible participating family member.
