Diabetes Center Director Jeffrey Bluestone is featured in the latest issue of Newsweek magazine, discussing his views on the impact of immune tolerance research.

Entitled "When the body attacks itself," the story by Anne Underwood discusses the rising rates of autoimmune diseases such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis and highlights several emerging treatments for these diseases. Included is in the article is reference to UCSF's hOKT3gamma1(Ala-Ala), the drug that has slowed the development of diabetes in newly diagnosed patients.
